STEM in P.6
STEM
During September and October 2016, P.6 pupils enjoyed participating in a STEM After School Club organised by Mrs Toal and Mrs Mc Vitty.
The topic was ‘Air as a Force’. The children explored the notion of simple pneumatics. They investigated how air can produce movement and how this can be used in simple pneumatic mechanisms.
Their task was to design a moving toy using simple pneumatics.
The children were enthused by each other and their end products were amazing.
In addition to the STEM club, Mr Mc Manus invited the P.6 class to visit the C.R.E.S.T-Centre for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technologies.
Thank you to the staff of the C.R.E.S.T centre who provided the children with an interesting and informative tour of the centre. The four different workshops were:
- Renewable Energies.
- Science Laboratory-Bio-energy.
- Engineering-Fabrication,
- Welding and Pneumatics
- Electronics-Animation.
