School Safety Measures November 2020

2nd Nov 2020

Dear Parent,

It is good to speak to you. The children are very welcome back to school. Everyone was in good spirits today and I think the children are ready for the next half of the term.

I want to remind you about the safety measures that we have in place. I urge you not to send a sick child to school. At the best of times, a child with a temperature is not fit to be at school and is highly contagious at this time. However, with the COVID 19 situation, it becomes even more critical. I strongly advise that if your child is sick that he/she should get a COVID 19 test and not return to school until the result is negative and your child is well again. Even if the temperature is the result of a mild cold it raises alarm and involves another family having to get tested. It is better to wait until your child is fully well before returning to school.

If your child gets sick in school, please respond immediately to my telephone call as your child is likely to have been sent to the isolation room. It is unfair for a child to spend long periods in this room. Although, he/she will be supervised, he/she is still in there on his/her own until you arrive.

Please do not congregate outside the school at collection or drop off times. In the mornings, the classroom assistants will chaperone/direct the children to their ports. Apart from P.1. children, being accompanied by their parents to the P.1. door, please do not walk your child at this point to his/her door.

Children are strongly advised to wear masks on all buses.

Please drop off/collect and go. I find it very difficult to say all of this to you and indeed it seems very unfair. You are always so welcome into the school and your presence is very much missed. However, we are entering a period of serious uncertainty with the virus and perhaps this is the beginning of our most critical period. Therefore, we all need to value that schools are open and we must do our part to ensure that they stay open.  Everyone has a part to play in this. I urge you to support me.

My Very Best Wishes,

Ms. O’Neill.
