Road Closure

31st May 2024

31/5/’24

Dear Parent,

This morning, Friday 31/5/’24, I have been notified that there will be significant traffic disruption in the course of next week: Monday 3rd - Friday 7th June.  Tattygare Road (from the church to the school) will be closed off due to waterworks being laid.  Therefore, the main entrance to the school will be closed off. I have spoken to the roadworks’ contractors about the difficulties this presents.

They have informed me that buses and parents will have to drive up Feddan Road at Leonard’s Shop/ Brian McCaffrey’s Garage as a diverted route.  After drop off at the pre-school gate, the diverted route will lead through Feddan Road until you reach the Tempo Road.  There will be signs to indicate /direct you.

To avoid serious congestion, the school carpark will be closed, apart from access for staff cars.  The plan is to drop your child off at the exit gate (at the pre-school). Staff will be there to chaperone the children through the small pre-school gate and onto the footpath leading into the school.

Buses will also drop the children off at this same area.  Please ensure that you leave space for the buses at our exit gate.  There will be no parking in this space in order to facilitate the buses.  The aim is to drop the children off and drive on immediately.  To add to the difficulties, Rodney’s bus will not run on Monday or Tuesday due to industrial action.  This means that there will be more cars dropping off children.

In the afternoons, the plan will be the same.  The children will be chaperoned to the gate (the pre-school gate) by staff and then collected by yourselves at both 2pm and 3:05 pm respectively.  It would be helpful if you could arrive at 3:05pm to collect the children by car.  This would allow the children to embark the buses with minimal congestion.

Sports Day, on Tuesday, will run as planned.  The roadworks’ contractors have agreed to open the Tattygare Road on Tuesday to allow full access until 12 noon.  Therefore, you can come along to Sports Day as planned.  We will ensure that all races etc. will be completed by that time.

I understand this is very inconvenient and untimely.  This unforeseen difficulty will pass.  We all must exercise patience and care.  Please drive slowly and carefully. The most important aspect is to ensure the children’s safety.

My Best Wishes,

Ms. O’Neill.
