Primary Engineering with Queen's University
On Wednesday 6th December, P.7 had an exciting visit from Siofra, Callum and Kevin from the School of Engineering, Queen’s University Belfast.
The purpose of their visit was to meet Sam Curley, who was successful in having his Primary Engineering project chosen by Queen’s to build a prototype of Sam’s invention.
Last year, Sam had an innovative idea to design solar panels which move with the direction of the sun.
Kevin is a final year Engineering student and he is going to build a prototype of Sam’s model. Callum is a PhD student and he will design a programme, so that we can view Sam’s idea through VR (Virtual Reality). Today, the P.7 children were able to have a go with the latest VR Quest-3 headset. Siofra is the project manager and she has invited us all up to Queen’s University, Belfast, next June 2024, to visit the Engineering faculty and see Sam’s finished product.
Thank you, once again to all three, for taking the time from their busy schedules to meet with us.
