Letter RE Week 2 School Lockdown

8th Jan 2021

8/1//’21

Dear Parent,

I hope you and your families are all well. I also hope that the children are engaging with the online teaching and learning.

On Monday 11th January, there will be no online teaching and learning and there will be no keyworker support. This will be used as a staff training day to support staff with the extended lockdown situation ensuring that we deliver a quality service to you. I hope this does not inconvenience you too much. Both the online teaching and learning as well as keyworker support will resume on Tuesday 12th January at 9am.

I had already stated that the packs would be available on Tuesday 12th January. They will now be available on Monday 11th of January for P.1.- P.6. The P.7. packs will be available for collection on Tuesday 12th from 9am.

Please collect the packs (P.1.- P.6. packs) from the children’s classrooms on Monday 11th January. I am starting with oldest first, if you have more than one child collect the packs at the same time. Just walk around to the classroom exterior doors as you normally would and collect the materials from the classrooms. Here is the timetable below:

P.6. 9:30 am

P.5. 10am

P.4. 10:30am

P.3. 11am

P.2. 11:30am

P.1. 12 noon

(As stated, if for example, you have a child in P.6. and in P.4. collect at the earlier time slot i.e. 9:30am.)

If you have a child in P.7. and another child in a different class, you can collect the younger child’s materials on Monday and return to the school for the P.7. materials on Tuesday. Alternatively, if you want to wait until Tuesday to collect both sets of materials that is absolutely fine. Please work with whatever suits you best.

The work in the packs reflects most of the work on Microsoft Teams and Seesaw. However, it will also provide more opportunity for the children to practise and extend their skills. In my experience, children learn from mastery, practise over and over until they succeed. Additionally, the pack is also a ‘back up’ to the online aspect where technical problems can occur.

I want to stress that if you are having any problems, no matter how small you might feel they are, I want you to let me know and I will do my best to support you and resolve them.

I know that children are missing the social aspect of school, and as the weeks progress, the tedium can start. Please reassure them that time will fly and that we already have completed one week. This situation will change, and before they know it, they will be back with their friends. I ask you and the children to dig deep and bear with it. It will be ok and remember we are here and we will support you. As I said to you during the first lockdown, we are a resilient community. We have faced a lot together, and we will get through this one!

My Very Best Wishes to You All and say a big hello to all the children and tell them we are missing their wee faces and their wee ways very much.

Ms. O’Neill.
