European Day of Languages
As part of an initiative by Queen’s University, Belfast, the pupils and staff of St.Patrick’s intend to participate, at school, in a celebration of the European Day of Languages which falls on Monday 26th September. During this day each class will learn about their chosen European country covering language, culture, geography, food, music and much more. Children may be singing, cooking, food sampling, dressing up, drawing, dancing, listening to stories and researching. Below are the countries that each class will study:
P.1: Italy
P2: France
P3: Spain
P4: Ireland
P5: Scotland
P6: Holland
P7: Greece
Parents are more than welcome to contribute to this day of fun. You may have photographs, artefacts or knowledge of the above countries that you might want to share with us. Additionally, if any parents have knowledge of any of the native languages of the countries stated above, the school would really appreciate them contributing to the day by helping with the basic teaching of the languages.
