2016 Peace Proms
Peace Proms 2016
Congratulations to all our children and staff who performed in the 2016 Peace Proms in the SSE Arena Belfast last Sunday 28th February.
We greatly appreciate the huge amount of extra work that they all took on board when participating in this project; from learning the materials in class, to preparing for the workshop and concert day, not to mention participating in all the singing and dancing.
Our choir were absolutely fantastic. Their excitement and energy really shone through in the concert.
Greg Beardsell and the Peace Proms Team have emailed us to pass on their congratulations to all the children for their sparkling and brilliant performances!!
“We really hope that the experience of being part of this large scale production and singing with a full symphony orchestra and soloists, will strengthen the children’s confidence, and encourage them to participate in musical projects throughout their lives.”
Some quotes from our pupils:
“I really enjoyed the Peace Proms concert in the SSE Arena. There was a great atmosphere. It was good fun being with all my friends.” Chloe
“My best memory was getting to watch and join in with the fun, clapping, waving and dancing.” Emer
“Peace Proms was amazing because we got to sing and dance with a full orchestra and with three and a half thousand other children. Our conductor, Greg Beardsell, was very professional. The audience thought that he was able to control us with his little finger!” Anna
“I loved Peace Proms because it was really cool watching the orchestra play their instruments and singing the songs.” Amy
“When we sang the song ‘Imagine’ the lights went out and all of the audience put their torches on, on their phones, the effect was amazing. The conductor made a video of everyone in the SSE Arena- we all screamed like mad.” Jodi
“My favourite part was when the orchestra played the Star Wars theme song and lots of Star Wars characters came out to the music.” Morgan
“I was really excited when I stepped into the SSE Arena. This year the orchestra was really good. The Pop Medley was my favourite piece. I also liked the part where everyone put on their sunglasses in Uptown Funk.” Maria
“We sang our hearts out and did all the actions too. My favourite song was ‘Hall of Fame.’ Thank you to Mrs Toal, Mrs O’ Connor and Mrs Maguire for giving up their time to take us to the Peace Proms. We loved every minute.” Kyra
